Description
Our organic basil essential oil from Greece for drinks originates from the plant with the botanical name Ocimum basilicum. The oil bears the name Basil organic essential oil for drinks. The plant has glandular hairs on its above-ground parts, where the volatile substances collect, and the species is assigned to the botanical family Lamiaceae. The family is rich in species, while the natural range of this species covers tropical and subtropical Asia and reaches European gardens and fields. The Asian range remains distant, while our raw material comes from organic plantings in Greece. The Greek plantings provide the above-ground stalk for steam distillation. Distillation separates the volatile molecules of the stalk, giving the oil a pure scent close to the natural profile of the plant from the Greek fields. The scent emerges strongly and develops in a herbaceous, sweet direction. This sweet direction is complemented by the green stalk, whose tissues release their pigment and give the liquid a golden-yellow hue. The golden-yellow liquid remains light and homogeneous throughout its volume. The volume contains the full range of volatile substances that the stalk accumulates in its peltate glandular hairs across the entire above-ground plant material. The hairs on the above-ground part retain the volatile material, while the heads of the capitate hairs remain free from such contents. The material from the organic field forms the entirely organic composition of the oil, which contains only the ingredients of the plant. The composition relies solely on plant substances, as organic cultivation in Greece excludes synthetic agents. The plant substances enter the liquid without preservatives or colourants.
Application
Organic basil essential oil from Greece is an aromatic raw material with a distinct Mediterranean character, used to enrich a wide range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Its fresh, herbaceous aroma with balsamic notes adds natural complexity to lemonades, botanical tonics, tinctures and craft alcohol-free alternatives. In alcoholic products, it is incorporated into gins with botanical formulations, liqueurs and craft vermouths, bringing a fresh, green and slightly spicy accord to their profiles. It is also used in the production of functional liquids and cold-extracted infusions, where preserving the natural qualities of the raw materials is important. At home, it is added to syrups for flavouring refreshing drinks and cocktails, combining well with lemon, lime, mint and ginger. Its organic origin and certified status make it suitable for manufacturers positioning themselves in the natural products segment with clean, readable labelling. Its Greek origin adds value to products oriented towards Mediterranean authenticity and high-quality botanical raw materials with proven provenance.
Storage
Store organic basil essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and changes in quality. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging and, as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder to a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for drink products, preferably dark glass, which protect the essential oil for drinks from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and moisture from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the quality and safety of the product for a longer period.
